Theirland,
a not unnatural enterprise, installation. This project was conducted
in situ on an abandoned military base opposite an active NATO base.
The installation consisted of a raft-bed and two videos.
The ancient war, video.
A team of young men carry the raft-bed - bearing a young woman - from
the base, across the road, and down to the bay. As the young men launch
the raft-bed into the water, one of them joins the (seemingly) abducted
woman on the raft-bed. They drift with the tide and the waves out into
Thermaikos Bay, among the fishing boats. The process of capturing the
images (video and still photography) has some of the spontaneity and
urgency of war reporting. Two cameras were employed to accentuate this
feeling, as two photographers follow the unfolding action to record
this event of effort and haste.
