π, shows three naked women holding each other by the shoulders, standing in the murky water of pond in the rain. During the entire film the only perceptible movement is their breathing.
The three women have different body types wich do not tally with the classical canon of beauty. What is more, their uncomfortable situation and the rain put them in a tangible, earthbound time and place. The departure point is the image of the three graces, young women representing as a triangle the voluptuous youth. Reactiving this kind of image is to give history painting a contemporary reality, it is experiencing the image in reality.
After the first few seconds of «déjà vu» (a phenomenon of recognition) we are caught up in the timeframe of the image. Oddly enough, this seems to be slowed up. What seems to be slowed up in the work is merely real time : it is raining, three young woman are in a pond, holding each other by the shouldres and hips.
